Wow, this came out of NOWHERE. After 13 seasons, the 2nd longest NFL Head Coach tenure ended today with the firing of MIKE FRICKIN’ SHANAHAN!! Wow…We knew Romeo, Mangini, and that awful dude Marinelli in Detroit were all on the hot seat…but who thought this would happen?

Shanahan immediately becomes the hottest commodity in the NFL Coaching market, other than Bill Cowher. And suddenly Bill Cowher’s stock takes a hit. Cowher has 1 Superbowl ring. Shanahan has two. And Denver will now owe Shanahan $20 million over the next 3 years, so Shanahan can go anywhere for a relatively low salary.

DENVER (Reuters) – Denver fired head coach Mike Shanahan on Tuesday after the Broncos lost their final three regular season games to miss out on the playoffs.

Shanahan, who took over as head coach in 1995, was the second-longest tenured coach in the NFL behind Tennessee Titans Jeff Fisher.

“After giving this careful consideration, I have concluded that a change in our football operations is in the best interests of the Denver Broncos,” said owner Pat Bowlen in a statement on the team’s website (http:/www.denverbroncos.com).
