My next project

Friday, May 29th, 2009

As the IPO’s continue to come out, and market caps continue to fall, it got me thinking. How cool would it be to own 100% of an SOI? I mean really, take a moment to let it digest, you would own EVERY share available. Is it just me, or does that not sound freaking awesome? If I was able to completely liquidate my sportfolio and buy players for the price they are at now, I could own 100% of either TMAC, DNCN, NASH, ODEN, AMRE, DIRK, PYTN, DMAC, BSAN, BOSS, or JHAM. That being said, they aren’t the most desirable of SOI’s and I know selling everything and buying all the shares at the prices they are at now is impossible, but still, I wouldn’t mind being the sole owner of BSAN, BOSS, or JHAM.

I sit here and look at the IPO list and pray that the market continues to drop as we get to my next favorite IPO, MEGA (Calvin Johnson). If we get to this point, and the market continues downward, I can easily see him coming out below $3,000. Mark my words; if this is the case, I am going for the gold. Maybe not every share, but at least 95% and just watch the others trade hands. The downside to this obviously is you become extremely illiquid. If you ever change your mind and want to go elsewhere you would be screwed, I would be screwed. If MEGA went out and tore his knee apart I would probably lose all my money. But in my opinion, it would be well worth the risk. I mean, seriously, how cool would that be! Sole owner of Calvin Johnson! I love it!

A much easier way to accomplish this would be to team up with one or two other guys and collectively get ir done. There are many trust worthy guys on the Nation, plenty of which I would venture into a project like this with. Why not give it a try? Because you can lose all your money? Eh, maybe, but if you haven’t noticed the market is falling anyways, might as well have some fun with it while you wait for it to come back up.

Maybe it is just a pipe dream, but I am 100% serious in this. If MEGA comes out with a market cap below $4k, I am going to try my best to sell everything I own and deposit more money in what will be a legendary quest. It may not happen right away, it may not even happen quickly, and it may not even happen with MEGA. But one of these days, I am going to own AT LEAST 90% of an SOI and it going to be even cooler than the first time slubs posted on the forums.

Derrick Rose is….a…..FRAUD?? Shocking Predictable NBA Revelation

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Derrick Rose’s luck continues to run out. First, months back, he is shat on by The Brett. Then Sdog removes Rose as is avatar in the OSN forums, and OSN Arcade. And now this.

The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Derrick Rose had his high school transcript altered to change a D to a C before it was sent to college. This news comes after it was reported that Rose had a stand-in take his SAT test.

Here is an excerpt of the article.

Someone with access to Derrick Rose’s academic records at Simeon High School changed a D to a C, boosting the future Bulls Rookie of the Year’s transcript for college, sources told the Chicago Sun-Times today.

Who altered the records in the grade-changing scandal remains a mystery that the Chicago Public Schools has been unable to solve.

You can see the full article here.

Another not so shocking revelation in the NBA world. Expect Rose to take a big hit in the public’s eye and be scrutinized heavily. Derrick Rose has a Market Cap of $5470 on OneSeason with 924 outstanding shares. Expect his SOI to not have as quick of a rise as his peers during the next swing up, due to the black eye his reputation has now.

$125 Prize! No Entry Fee! OSN Member Creates Another “Cash For On Field Performance” Game!

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

OneSeason Nation member (and official Legal Counsel) Philadude has created another 3rd party game for OneSeason based around On Field Performance! For this game you can win $125 for The Triple Crown, or the Cy Young games. Here is a description, right from Philadude himself!

THIS GAME STARTS MONDAY! Get Entered for your chance to win $125!

It’s the same premise as traditional rotisserie baseball, except that rather than each participant drafting their own team with different players, participants are allowed to use the same players, but it’s ownership percentage that separates them.  Standings are based on a combined point ranking in the three stat categories, which is in turn based on total stats of the MLB player, adjusted by ownership percentages.  In a nutshell…the better stats your three players have and the more shares you own of each player when they put up those stats, the better you do.

Don’t Believe The Gloom From People Who’ve Made Bad Buys

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Here is an article submitted to OSN by Lurker ‘B.K.’ that he sent to OSN and requested be posted on the front page. Thanks for the article B.K.! You should post in the forums too! If you have an article you’d like posted. Send it to bullpup@oneseasonnation.com

Don’t follow the naysayers into the fireselling-If you’re smart!

There are people out there would have have you believe that the skies are grey, and trouble looms on the horizon for OneSeason. Some of them are promoting the crash, and pleading the end, because they are trying to buy up shares as fast as they can. They other people are a pretty funny bunch. They are the people who expect OneSeason to save them from their SHITTY purchases. If you listen to Oneseason Radio, you’ve heard for weeks who these terrible purchases are. (BMAR, DMAC, TMAC, etc) And these guys who have made shitty decisions are now trying to cry foul and blame OneSeason and try to have someone else take responsibility for their own trading actions. Hey, Smart Guys. If you lose your money, someone else made money. Congrats on playing OneSeason poorly. Maybe you should have paid more attention to the community, and who people were hot or not on, and traded accordingly. The Brett was pretty smart getting out of GTZY months back, and was laughed at when he did it for $7. Now Gretzky is selling for $2.00. Who’s fault is that? Are you mad at OneSeason, are you mad at Brett? Point the finger at yourself. You are just mad because people beat you to the punch!

boo hoo someone just profited off of me

Some of these people, who have made LAUGHABLE choices on who to own in their sportfolio, now want to point the finger at OneSeason, and blame OneSeason for their sportfolio. The FACTS are, if YOU lose money in OneSeason, someone else MADE money. Plain and simple. Don’t buy into the hype of the sky is falling. We’ve heard some great interviews from Mike Sroka and D.J. on One Season Nation regarding the future of the site. We know there is more fun stuff coming, and they are very excited. There are dozens of sites popping up all around us based on games, and other things to do with regards to OneSeason. Don’t buy into the gloom and doom. Please don’t follow the people who are just pissed of at their SHITTY decisions and trying to piss everyone off, and blame OneSeason, and call for OneSeason to fix things. Hey Dudes, YOU bought your shares, and OTHER PEOPLE are selling them for less than you paid for them. Suck it up, and stop your WHINING. I have bought myself nice positions in a few different guys, and haven’t been affected at all buy the crashing of the early issued players. All of these early issues are coming back down to earth and getting inline with the rest of these newer issued players. Stop your whining. Stop complaining. Stop blaming someone else for your decisions. Man up and do something about it. A lot of guys in the “Nation” forums complained about losses before, but by staying in tune with what is going on, a lot of them report being in the positive now. OneSeason is strong, and come football season, you will all be very happy that you found OneSeason when you did.

Alexander the Great Closes at .52 on Wed Night! 65 Shares Traded on the Day!

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Alexander Ovechkin traded far under the magic 75 cent plateau today. The OneSeason Mendoza line, if you will, and ALL signs point to a reverse split for ALOV. Great news. Once these pre-hoo guys get pulled to the level of guys like Ryan, Forte, Pedroia, Payton, Josh Hamilton, Ichiro, and the rest of these low share, low MC guys…the market can go nowhere but up! But as far as an ALOV Reverse Split, we don’t know when it will happen for sure because OneSeason uses a weighted average for ‘a period of time’ before closing to determine if the SOI reverse splits or not. Half of the formula is there. We’ll see tomorrow if the other half was there to make the Reverse Split happen or not.

Tragedy in the sports world!

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

I am sad to bring this up, but the underaged female tennis star that we have all come to love is getting her biggest assets reduced according to SPORTSbyBROOKS.com. They provided a quote from my once favorite female athlete and she clearly needs to reorganize her priorities in life. “Inconvenience me, it’s very hard with them. It’s a weight in addition to confound me speed response. I can not go on very well.”

Tennis isn’t going to get this girl anywhere in life, but those things on her chest could have carried her at least through her late 20’s. Here’s to what could have been.

KING and KOBE will reverse split…

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

and even if the market takes off today and there are no more reverse splits at all, they will at least lag behind the rest of the SOI’s as we move forward.

Let me preface this by saying this is the opinion of me and me only, what I say (despite bullpups words on the forum) does not represent the opinion of OSN. People should not look at this as trading advice and should only make trades based on their own opinions and research and not what other people tell them. That being said, I think it is crazy for anyone to own KING or KOBE, along with a number of other SOI’s on the market. For months now there have been cries and outrage about YAOM and his ridiculously high number of SOI’s in the market and his high market value, and for good reason. But why stop with YAOM? He was grossly overvalued and the people of OSN called him out on it. So why do other SOI’s get a free pass? KING and KOBE are even higher than YAOM market value wise and everyone is fine with it. Yes, it is ridiculous to compare YAOM to KOBE and KING and to even mention them in the same sentence, but should KOBE and KING really be worth this much more than guys like WADE, DHOW, and the other NBA stars? The simple answer is no.

There have been comments on the forums that if KING and KOBE reverse split than it will be the end of the site. In my honest opinion it will be one of the first signs that OneSeason is ready to take off. Until this point, the market has acted completely irrationally. If KING, KOBE, and even AIRJ were to come back in line with the rest of the market it will be the first sign of there being enough trading activity for the market to act in a realistic manner. For OneSeason to work a players performance needs to have some effect on their SOI’s market value. While popularity and image have made KING worth six times more than DHOW he is clearly not six times the player DHOW is (especially with DHOW now up 3-1). At some point this gap needs to close, and when it happens, watch out.

The Transition Of Sports- 3 Strategies You Can Use To Make $$$$

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

OSN Member Witt4three contacted us wanting to share some strategies with the trading community. Not only are we giving him the forum to share…We are thrilled to announce Witt now has his own page at OSN! Witt will be a regular contributor and writing helpful articles for folks who need some guidance or different perspective on the world of OneSeason. Here is Witt’s first submission. His articles will be available on the front page here, then archived at www.OneSeasonNation.com/category/Witt4three. Enjoy!

NBA and NHL are coming to an end, MLB is up and running, NFL camps are in progress, and another year of sports greatness is upon us. For Oneseason, when the MLB season comes to an end, they will have completed their one year anniversary! Here is a preview of the strategies you can use to profit and have a lot of fun during the transition of sports:

Strategy #1: Buy MLB Stocks- MLB is possibly one of the most dragged out sports ever, but entertaining at the same time. When NBA and NHL end, people want action, and the only way they are going to get that is by buying MLB SOIs. New fantasy games are out and more are to come. Owning a large % of a SOI with a very low amount of outstanding shares is always fun. You can dominate the fantasy games with this player, and can brag to everyone that you own __% of ________.
Best MLB buys: GRNK- (when he comes out) only 400-600 shares and less than 1 ERA in 9 games this season. In Dancenham’s new game, you can almost gurantee that he will win, go 7+ innings, walk 2 or less batters, and give up less than 3 ER.
ICHI- This guy always seems to get a hit. Very valuable in fantasy games, and at 4k MV, he is very undervalued.
Anyone under 3k- Plain and simple, these guys can’t stay at this level for long and when the market starts to pick up, you will make a substantial % gain.
Bottom line: If you like having action and playing fantasy games with your SOIs, this is the strategy for you!

Strategy #2 (What I’m Doing)- Buy a large % of NFL SOIs with a promising future and legends- Baseball is already going and the next sport up will be NFL. Everyone is expecting big advertising around NFL season, which will bring many more users to the site which means more money in the market. They are going to want legends from their day (Sanders, Montana, Payton) just so they can say that they own their favorite player of all-time. If a 3rd-party site can figure out a way to incorporate NFL legends into fantasy games, these SOIs will boom even more. New users are also going to want fantasy studs. Brady, Peterson, and the Mannings are obvious, but you want low shares outstanding, so you look at Ryan, Forte, and Chris Johnson. You can own a pretty large % of these guys at a relatively low price. When the site grows, so will these players.
Bottom line: If you think that the site will really grow around football season, and want to beat the transitioners, this is the strategy for you (and me)!

Strategy #3- Buy NBA SOIs after everyone has transitioned- Lebron and the Cavs look like they are done in the playoffs, and you have really seen it in his value. Lebron had about an 80k market cap a month ago, NOW 40k. 50% dropoff! People are definitely selling him and transitioning into baseball. When the playoffs end, you will see even more people undercut him. Don’t be surprised if he gets to 30k within the next month or two. At these low values, most basketball SOIs are a buy, but can you wait 6 months until these guys play again??? For most people, no, but for the patient, yes, and they will be the ones who make a lot of money off of it. OS hopes to be almost in full swing by then, which means all types of advertising and new users! Also, there hasn’t even been a fantasy game created for basketball yet, and when there is, these SOIs will be even more valuable. All SOIs will soar and if you can get these cheap basketball SOIs during this crash or within the next month or two, you will be very very happy!
Bottom line: If you are patient enough to load up on basketball SOIs in the middle of June, this is the buying strategy for you!

Have fun with OS, and if you are here to make some $$$ while having fun, one of these strategies will probably accomplish your goals.

if you would like to write articles for the community, new users, casual users, or OneSeason themselves to read, contact us! bullpup@oneseasonnation.com or just come to the forums.

Yao Ming Reverse Splits AGAIN! NICE!

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Yao Ming once again, as predicted by OSN, reverse split this evening, leaving 7853 outstanding in the market. With Yao’s price still being around the dollar range ($1.22 at the time of this writing), ANOTHER reverse split is NOT out of the question. At $0.75 with 7853 shares outstanding puts Yao’s Market Cap at just under $6k. Who else is under 6k? Kevin Garnett, Kevin Durant, Tim Duncan, Amare Stoudemire, Paul Pierce, and Dirk Nowitzki. Yao Ming should fit in among those players nicely, and should end up in that range in the long run.

Josh Hamilton Hits OneSeason!

Thursday, May 21st, 2009
Josh Hamilton Shows his support for the "OneSeason" concept. (You can't see but he's wearing skates and baggy shorts)

Josh Hamilton Shows his support for the"OneSeason" concept. (You can't see but he's also wearing skates and baggy shorts in this photo)

The comeback, feelgood story of recent times in MLB is set to be released into the trading community on Friday. The tattooed wonder kid Josh Hamiltion was IPO’d Thursday evening at approximately 5:22PM PST. If you haven’t read the story on this guy. I highly recommend it. His market cap will be EXTREMELY low. Possibly one of the lowest we’ve seen in awhile. He will be a good SOI for someone to pounce on, and buy a huge stake in, for a cheap price. If Hamilton can put together a string of years like he did last year, he’ll belong up there w/ the names Wright, AROD, and Pujols.
