Thanks to Kappy, Quizrox and Jemehl for the fast information!

Report: Manny faces 50-game penalty
ESPN.com news services

Major League Baseball is expected to announce Thursday that Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez has tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs and will be suspended for 50 games, The Los Angeles Times is reporting.

Ramirez’s test result and suspension are expected to be announced Thursday, The Times said.

Citing a source familiar with the matter, The Times reported Ramirez is expected to say the positive test results were a result of medication received from a doctor for a personal medical issue.

If his suspension begins Thursday, Ramirez would be eligible to return to the Dodgers’ lineup for their July 3 game against San Diego.

Triple-A outfielder Xavier Paul has been told by the Dodgers that he will be promoted later today, according to The Times.

In his first full season as a Dodger, Ramirez is batting .348 with six home runs and 20 RBIs. Los Angeles has bolted to a 21-8 record — best in the majors — and a 13-0 record at home that set the modern major league record for home winning streak to start a season.

Breaking News-Rick Ankiel Seriously Injured

Monday, May 4th, 2009

OSN News Correspondant Bengals725 is first on the scene with this report on the Ankiel situation. More info as we get it.

Rick Ankiel, Cardinals outfielder was taken off the field on a stretcher in the seventh inning of Monday’s game against the Phillies.  He was going after a fly ball in center, when he went head first into the wall bending his neck back viciously.  He layed on the warning track for a few minutes as Busch Stadium was shocked into silence.  After they took all precautionary measures he was carted off the field and did give a thumbs up to the fans.  Ankiel was a great story after his comeback from his pitching issues, and lets hope it doesn’t come to an end here.  We’ll keep you updated as more information is brought forth.

Thanks Bengals for the late breaking news update

UPDATE on the situation from OSN News Correspondant Bengals725

Ankiel has show responsiveness neurologically.

Future Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez

Future Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez

from espn.com and the Associated Press

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to trade perennial Pro Bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons for a second-round pick in the 2010 draft.

Gonzalez had asked the Chiefs for a trade in March if the right deal came along. The only tight end in NFL history selected to 10 Pro Bowls, Gonzalez owns NFL career records at his position with 916 receptions, 10,940 receiving yards, 76 receiving touchdowns and 26 100-yard receiving games.

“On behalf of my family and the Chiefs, I want to thank Tony for his time in Kansas City,” Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said in a statement. “Over the last 12 seasons, Tony has been one of the finest players in Chiefs history, and he will always be remembered as a member of the Chiefs. His play on the field speaks for itself — he holds almost every major NFL record for tight ends, and he is arguably the best to ever play his position. We wish him the best in Atlanta.”

Gonzalez was usually double-teamed last season, in which the Chiefs won only two games, but still caught 96 passes for 1,058 yards and 10 touchdowns. He plans on playing at least one more season and possibly two.

“From an organizational as well as personal standpoint there are mixed emotions,” new Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli said in the team’s statement. “I have the highest personal and professional respect for Tony and consider him to be a future Pro Football Hall of Famer.”

What is worse?

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

The fact that Ray Allen elbows Varejao in the balls after being lightly tossed to the floor or the fact that Varejao has a vagina and shows no reaction to something that would have real men keeling over gasping for air? Best part of this video? Minute 1:32

“I’m impressed with Varejao!”

“I’m not!”

So which is worse? The pussy move of elbowing a dude in the nuts or the fact that Varejao doesn’t even flinch?

KG likely out for the playoffs

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

So being from Boston and knowing Boston fans as well as I do there is basically two ways to look at this. One group will take the Boston of 10 years ago approach, throw in the towel, and simply criticize the Celtics from here on out for their lack of depth or working KG too hard. They will watch the games and enjoy any failure that comes upon them with a told you so attitude.

Group number two looks at it this way. “Who gives a shit. This is Boston bitches, title town USA, How many championships have we won in the past 8 years? Thats what I thought.” Sadly, there is no in between. Most people around here are either arrogant fucks or pessimistic impossibles (no offense to the Boston guys here, I am one of you so I have the right).

Myself and a few others are going into these playoffs pumped up. This is the Celtics chance to really stick it to the rest of the league, and the country. The Celtics are still a great team with great players. They have gone 17-5 without KG this season so all hope is not lost. If the Celtics win, fucking great! If they lose, oh well, it was a great run and they will be back next year. Regardless it has been more fun watching them play these last two seasons than my entire life before. No reason to let some fluke injury ruin the ride.

You be the judge

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Beckett just got suspended for 6 games for this pitch, do you think it is fair?

I feel like this happens all the time when someone calls a late time out and the pitcher just lets it go. There was no fight afterwards and he didn’t even get ejected from the game. So you be the judge, am I being a Boston homer or is this suspension a little ridiculous.

BostonHerald - Tom Brady [stats] and Gisele Bundchen’s glam Costa Rican wedding was marred by gunfire last night when security guards hired to keep paparazzi away fired at two photographers as they fled the scene with their film. No one was hurt. According to two spokesmen for the INF photo agency, photographers were hiding in the brush near Gisele’s beachfront home taking pictures of the event when they were rousted by the newlyweds’ security guards. The photographers, identified as Yuri Cortez and Rolando Aviles, were marched up to Bundchen’s villa where they were ordered to surrender their still photos and video. The men refused and fled with the security guards in pursuit. Two of the photographers ran to a waiting SUV and jumped in as a guard fired a shot at them. The bullet shattered the Suzuki’s rear window, passed between the two men in the front seat and bounced off the windshield.

I thought I posted this last week but apparently I am not good at pushing the publish button. After Brady’s knee injury last year there are now extra precautions in place. Specifically, armed gunman if you screw with Bob Kraft’s prize QB. This sounds like a story out of the Michael Vick/Plaxico Burress book, not the Brazilian supermodel banging pretty boy from New England. I’m not going to lie, I’m impressed, I wish I could get away with shit like this. Only Tom Brady could have his boy’s open fire on the paparazzi and get away with it. BUY BUY BUY

Giants Reliever Joe Martinez Hit in Head By Line Drive

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Breaking news clip from OSN News Correspondant Dancenham’s cell phone. Here is the new story from Yahoo!

SAN FRANCISCO (AP)—Giants reliever Joe Martinez was hit in the head by Mike Cameron’s line drive in the ninth inning, but was able to walk off the field Thursday in San Francisco’s 7-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Martinez, who made his major league debut Tuesday as was the winner in the Giants’ opener, was struck near the right temple by Cameron’s two-out liner. Martinez dropped to his knees, and players on both sides winced at the frightening scene.

Team trainers rushed to Martinez’s aid. After a few minutes, he was able to walk away with a cloth held to his nose.

Masters begins today

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Can you name the year and hole? Possibly the greatest shot that I have seen in my short lifetime. While I know it’s hard for some people to watch golf, Sunday at the Masters is one of the more exciting days of the year as long as Tiger isn’t 12 shots up on someone. There is just something special about Augusta National and what it brings out of these guys. Plus, they don’t let chicks play on their course which is awesome. How sick would a TIGR IPO be Sunday as he slips on another green jacket?

David Wright Hits it Hard!

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

David Wright hit the market today, 4/7/09 debuting with only 641 shares. He came out of the box on fire, as most people in the forums predicted. He was selling no problem around $20, and at the time of this writing, he has fallen back down into the $16’s. I thought he would end up in the $8-$9k Market Cap at the close of the market today. He is currently at $10,500. What are your thoughts on the short and long term prospects of David Wright? And who is the fine ass chick smashing cosmos on his arm?

He’s Baaaaaaaack!

Monday, April 6th, 2009

And like he never left. In the top of the 5th, with nobody on, and nobody out, Griffey takes a pitch DEEP over the fence in right field for his first home run of the season, in his first game back with Seattle. WELCOME BACK JUNIOR!
