These should be two great games. I think UCONN is a far superior team to MSU, but they have a wicked home court advantage. UNC and NOVA are pretty equally matched as ACC teams have proven to be the defenition of pussies so far in this tournament and the Big East has dominated so don’t take the regular season results and immediately jump all over UNC’s dick.
I am picking UCONN and NOVA then UCONN to win it all.
As far as the OneSeason Nation goes, the forums are ablaze, The Brett just bought 40 shares of Cutler, and OSN has word, straight from the Head Honcho, a HUGE bears fan as well, Mike Sroka!
From Mike to the OneSeason Nation regarding this trade…
” (I’m) JACKED!!! Take Orton and a couple draft picks…we are FINALLY gonna have an offense to go with our kickass defense.
Da Bears Super Bowl Bound in ’09-’10….Better start getting a new shuffle ready.
ESPN.com -WALTHAM, Mass. — Kevin Garnett will miss at least the next four games with a sore right knee and may return for the final three games of the Boston Celtics‘ regular season.
The emotional leader and defensive star of the defending NBA champions has missed 15 of the last 19 games, including the last two.
Coach Doc Rivers said after practice Tuesday that the team would be “shutting down” Garnett for most of the remaining seven regular-season games because of continued soreness in the knee, first injured on Feb. 19 at Utah.
This is bad news for my Celtics. KG is the single most important player to this team, and while they should still have no problem dominating in the first round, Orlando and Cleveland will both beat them if they don’t have the big ticket. It’s unclear how serious the issue is, but I have been saying since he went down the first time to just lay off until they lose a game in the playoffs. Then you can ride a healthy big man long and hard to a championship.
“I talked to coach Jauron prior to the start of the workouts about that,” Owens told reporters. “Right now if there’s nothing mandatory that I have to be a part of, then I won’t intend to be there.”
T.O. said he would rather stick to his own routine than go to the Bill’s workouts. This bugs the shit out of me, and the guy wonders why he has such a bad reputation around the league. Sure, a lot of guys don’t go to voluntary workouts, and thats fine. I think it is stupid not to, but whatever. T.O. however, is a completely different story. When you have a terrible reputation like his going to a new team show that you give a shit and just go to the damn workouts.
TMZ - Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa are being sued by their former housekeeper, who claims Vanessa was incredibly abusive — even demanding that she put her hand in a bag of dog feces to retrieve a tag from her blouse. Maria Jimenez claims Vanessa called her “lazy, slow, dumb, a f—ing liar, and f—ing sh-t.” In the lawsuit filed in Superior Court in Orange County, Jimenez claims Vanessa accused her of stealing her (mouth) retainer. Jimenez says it got so bad — Vanessa allegedly “badgered, harassed and humiliated Maria by yelling and screaming at Maria and criticizing her in front of Kobe, the Bryants’ children, employees and other people in the household” — she threatened to quit but Kobe talked her out of it. The final straw: When Vanessa went nuclear because Maria put an expensive blouse in the washer. Vanessa demanded that Maria put her hand in a bag of dog feces to retrieve the price tag for the blouse. Maria says she wanted to quit and Vanessa responded that she “had to work until payday to pay for the $690 blouse, which she did.” Maria is suing for wrongful discharge, invasion of privacy and emotional distress and unpaid wages.
Ok, so I know your husband is one of the greatest to play the game; and I know he cheats on you at least once a week; but lady, that does not give you the right to be a f***ing lunatic! Maybe if it you were KING’s wife this would be acceptable, but until your hubby is the number one traded SOI on OneSeason.com I think you need to take a few steps back. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I have no problem giving incompetent people a piece of my mind, the deserve it. But to force this woman to reach into dog shit to get a tag from a blouse is and then make her work to pay it off is a little over the line. I get it, you wanted to wear the blouse once and return it, oldest trick in the book, that’s fine. News flash! Your husband makes a gazillion dollars a year! Just take the hit financially and move on, I think you will survive. I hope this woman gets a hell of a settlement if for no other reason than I am from Boston and anything bad that happens to KOBE is good news to me.
This game wasn’t even as close as the score suggested. Syracuse dominated this one from the get go. Instead of putting Harden at the foul line and working in and out of the zone, ASU’s answer was to launch up three’s all game. This would be a decent game plan if you were hitting the shots, but come half time when the outside shot is not there it is time for a new plan. The best offensive possessions ASU had was when they put Harden on the foul line and passed it in and out of the defense and then taking a three if open or having Harden drive to the hoop. It also doesn’t help when your only down low presence fouls out with more than ten minutes left in the game. Syracuse played great defense and made key shots when needed. ASU got to within four with five minutes left but Devendorf nailed back to back threes to put the game in the bag which I hate because man, that guy looks like such a douche. For shame ASU, you really sucked the left nut today.
I am not a fan of Syracuse. Ever since they had that six overtime win against UCONN and went on to the finals of the Big East Tournament everyone has been all over their balls. The same thing happened in 2006 when Gerry McNamara lead them to win the Big East and were knocked out in the first round of the big dance! James Harden went only 1-9 shooting and ASU still beat Temple easily. Don’t expect the key guard to be off two games in a row. While Syracuse is probably a better team on paper, they are worn down and playing a very good ASU team. Tune into this one at 12:10 est and watch the big orange go down.
This is a bit of old news but here is Julian Tavarez explaining why he signed with the Nationals.
“Why did I sign with the Nationals? When you go to a club at 4 in the morning, and you’re just waiting, waiting, a 600-pounder looks like J-Lo. And to me this is Jennifer Lopez right here. It’s 4 in the morning. Too much to drink. So, Nationals [are] Jennifer Lopez to me.”
Now if only everyone was so honest, I think the world would be a much better place.
Connecticut head coach, Jim Calhoun, will not be on the bench for their first round match up today. ESPN is reporting that Calhoun has been sick for some time now and as a precautionary measure it is better for him not to coach tonight. Lets wish the best to Coach Calhoun and hope this is nothing too serious.
All I could think about as David Wright hit a walk off two run single in the bottom of the ninth to cap a three run inning that put the USA into the next round last night was who was going to come out of the celebration with another strained muscle. Despite the plethora of injuries that the US has already sustained (Pedroia, Braun, Lindstrom, Jones) they managed to keep it together long enough to avenge the embarassing loss last week to the same Puerto Rico team by way of the ten run mercy rule. The Americans will play one more game in the second round against Venezula to determine seedings for the semi-finals. For the league’s sake, lets just hope no one else comes up with the injury bug before this thing is over.
UPDATE: Youklis has now pulled out of the remainder of the WBC with a sprained ankle that occurred 3-4 days ago. Why was he even playing? I’m sure that huge pile jumping around wasn’t too good for it. Just saying.
Dancenham was the first to post that Tom Verducci is reporting that the Pratiots and Panthers are talking about a trade that will send Julius Peppers to the Pats in exchange for the 34th overall pick in the upcoming draft, the same pick that the Patriots received in exchange for Matt Cassell. While this would finally make sense of why the Pats received so much less than everyone though for Cassell, it is simply not going to happen.
First, Peppers was franchised this year and still has not signed his tender. What this means is that the Panthers aren’t even allowed to talk to anyone regarding a trade until they sign him to a long term deal or he at least signs the franchise tender. Sure the Patriots are well known for being shifty and doing things not quite by the books, but John Fox doesn’t have the balls to tango with the Patriots in this regard.
Second, as a franchise player, Peppers is set to make just south of $17 million next year and undoubtedly would need an Albert Haynesworth like contract in order for him to sign. The Patriots would never hand out a contract like that, not even to Tom Brady. Richard Seymour, Logan Mankins, and Vince Wilfork are all free agents at the end of the 2009 season and if Peppers was signed there would be no way that they could resign all three of them. And to be honest with you, I would rather have Seymour and Wilfork. These guys know the system and don’t care that they are not asked to put up sexy sack numbers. Peppers had 14.5 sacks last year but I would bet he gets under 10 in the Patriots system. How do you think he would react to that? He has a history of bitching already and if his sexy numbers decline you can bet he will be a huge problem.
Third, just because Peppers says he wants to be an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense, doesn’t mean he will be good at it. The Patriots system is not easy, you actually have to be intelligent as well as being talented. All Peppers knows is rushing the QB, what is going to happen when he is in space and needs to make decisions on the move? What is going to happen when he needs to cover a TE who is just as quick, or a RB who is even quicker? Or how about when Adrian Peterson comes at you with the shake ‘n bake and makes you look silly, you get blamed for that as a linebacker. I just don’t think he would do as well as he would if he is playing down on the line every play.
Fourth, the guy is a tool. In 2007 he only had 2.5 sacks because he was pissed about his contract and simply shut it down. Does this sound like a guy the Patriots want? Randy Moss and Cory Dillion were both tools as well before they came but they were cheap as hell. It didn’t cost the 34th overall pick and $100 million.
I am going to go out on a limb here and say there is a 0% chance that this deal goes through. I know everyone in New England is still walking around with huge erections thinking about the possibilities but it simply wont happen.
I will be the first to admit it, I loved Bud Selig’s newest ploy to make money. I was the first to post about it on the OSN forums, and I have been one of the few in this country that actually looked forward to it. I dismissed the injury concerns and the fact that these guys simply aren’t ready to play 100% just yet. I dismissed the fact that the games truly are meaningless because I desperately wanted to just watch my favorite players duke it out for the first time since October. I was blinded by my own selfish wants until today when it finally hit home.
Dustin Pedroia today strained his oblique after taking extra batting practice and infield drills while working out for Team USA in preparation for tonights second round game against Puerto Rico, the same injury mind you that rendered Josh Beckett all but useless against Tampa Bay last October. You can call me a hypocrite, a flip flopper, whatever you want, but this is bull shit and I am now standing in front of the picket line trying to get rid of this stupid thing. Pedroia is the most important piece of the Boston Red Sox. He is a catalyst in the lineup, on the field, and in the club house. Basically, this guy is the man. Reports are that the strain is mild, but if he misses a single game or is not ready in time for opening day, than it is not worth it for these players to be playing in such a stupid exhibition match. These athletes are being paid zillions of dollars to play for their MLB teams, not to play for the USA. I will bet you anything that good old Bud will be hearing from the Red Sox brass very soon.
I knew there had to be something wrong with me when I was actually on the same side of an argument with Bud Selig, I’m glad I finally got myself straightened out.
So apparently Browns wide out Donte Stallworth killed a guy. Not with a trident though…with a car. The Miami Beach police are reporting that Stallworth struck and killed a pedestrian in his Bentley around 7 AM local time. You can read the Yahoo! story here. Now while most of the major news outlets are being cautious on whether Stallworth will be charged, OSN has managed to get a hold of one link suggesting the speedster was in fact a little inebriated when he made this poor guy a loser in a real life game of Frogger. Profootballtalk.com has this article up saying prosecutors are “poised to charge” Stallworth. The article also notes that sources added Donte was enjoying some Patron and margaritas but reportedly quit by midnight. So while tequila makes girls’ clothes fall off it apparently makes Stallworth kill people…with his six figure car. We’ll leave the guesses on Stallworth’s OS ticker symbol to the message boards, although we’re advocating TQLA.
