Boys and Girls alike all love B-Jays

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Got to hand to the kids from Creighton, it takes balls to wear a shirt like this in public, but they love BJ’s, they want everyone to know about it, and I for one respect that.

Matty Ice hits the trading floor!

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Matt Ryan was released to the hounds tonight after a long day of waiting around. Ryan has settled into the bottom four of all football IPOs and is the lowest valued of all quarterbacks. Just behind Jay Cutler. QB’s are usually the highest valued of the football SOI’s and Matty Ice is coming into only his second pro season. In his rookie year he lead the Falcons to the playoffs. He is a born leader, has all the skills, and will only get better as he continues to mature. Matty is only the fourth “post hoo” football SOI and could have a lot of potential going into the upcoming football season. OS users tend to like the sexy young stars and RYAN is definitely in that category. I see him staying in the bottom of the football pool for a while but once football fever strikes and fantasy football comes around he could see some considerable gains.

ASU lets me down

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

This game wasn’t even as close as the score suggested. Syracuse dominated this one from the get go. Instead of putting Harden at the foul line and working in and out of the zone, ASU’s answer was to launch up three’s all game. This would be a decent game plan if you were hitting the shots, but come half time when the outside shot is not there it is time for a new plan. The best offensive possessions ASU had was when they put Harden on the foul line and passed it in and out of the defense and then taking a three if open or having Harden drive to the hoop. It also doesn’t help when your only down low presence fouls out with more than ten minutes left in the game. Syracuse played great defense and made key shots when needed. ASU got to within four with five minutes left but Devendorf nailed back to back threes to put the game in the bag which I hate because man, that guy looks like such a douche. For shame ASU, you really sucked the left nut today.

My Upset Pick for Sunday

Arizona St. over Syracuse

I am not a fan of Syracuse. Ever since they had that six overtime win against UCONN and went on to the finals of the Big East Tournament everyone has been all over their balls. The same thing happened in 2006 when Gerry McNamara lead them to win the Big East and were knocked out in the first round of the big dance! James Harden went only 1-9 shooting and ASU still beat Temple easily. Don’t expect the key guard to be off two games in a row. While Syracuse is probably a better team on paper, they are worn down and playing a very good ASU team. Tune into this one at 12:10 est and watch the big orange go down.

Kate, from “Lost” in Phone Sex Ad

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

If you told me I could call this number and talk to Evangeline Lilly you can bet your ass I would be first in line. This girl is right up my alley and anyone who has seen Lost definitely agrees with me. How they got this babe to do a commercial for their whacked out hot line is beyond me but all I can picture is her tied up in some dudes basement and him having his way with her.

He said what?

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

This is a bit of old news but here is Julian Tavarez explaining why he signed with the Nationals.

“Why did I sign with the Nationals? When you go to a club at 4 in the morning, and you’re just waiting, waiting, a 600-pounder looks like J-Lo. And to me this is Jennifer Lopez right here. It’s 4 in the morning. Too much to drink. So, Nationals [are] Jennifer Lopez to me.”

Now if only everyone was so honest, I think the world would be a much better place.

Only in Soccer Would this Happen

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

I have never understood the sport of soccer, sure, I guess it could be fun to play; I myself would get very bored and tired but whatever, to each their own. What is even more confusing to me is how effin crazy soccer players and fans are around the world. It seems like every day there is a riot somewhere and just recently a goalie in Iraq was shot dead after the match. What I love most about this video is when the players get close to the ref, instead of punching or tackling they jump up in the air like little fairies and kick the dude. As a side note, this dude is pretty damn fast and basically out ran all the players.

Megan Fox Loves the Nation!

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Well, maybe not, but the Nation sure does love her. Megan is definitely one of the most talked about babes on the OSN forums yet she has never made an appearance in the OSN babes section of the website, today this changes. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Fox. You have done great work.

If you want your favorite babe featured in the OSN Babes section, email me a pic to penny@oneseasonnation.com

Jim Calhoun Out

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Connecticut head coach, Jim Calhoun, will not be on the bench for their first round match up today. ESPN is reporting that Calhoun has been sick for some time now and as a precautionary measure it is better for him not to coach tonight. Lets wish the best to Coach Calhoun and hope this is nothing too serious.

Matt Forte, Come on Down!

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte is going the next IPO to hit the pipe line unless Matty Ryan can make a quick fourth quarter comeback. Seeing as we are out of season and running backs generally don’t do as well I do not have high hopes for this IPO. We have a few OSN members who are going to load up from the beginning, but once they run out of cash I see Forte falling quickly. This could be a great time to get in on him. He is the focal point of the Bears offense and had a great rookie season. Chicago has some pretty die hard fans and as OneSeason continues to grow and football season gets closer Forte could definitely out pace the market.

Why White Guys Shouldn’t Dunk

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

I can’t really blame this guy. You could tell right from the second he first touched the ball that he was going for the big slam. The poor bastard almost tripped when he got the free throw line and when all he wanted was to get on Sportcenter he instead makes a huge ass of himself. You can tell he is not in that position very often and simply got over excited. I’m not going to lie, I give this guy mad props just for trying as he is clearly at a disadvantage to the other players, but man, he needs to know his limitations. And good for him for getting right back up and sprinting down the court to get on D.

USA Survives to Play Another Game

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

All I could think about as David Wright hit a walk off two run single in the bottom of the ninth to cap a three run inning that put the USA into the next round last night was who was going to come out of the celebration with another strained muscle. Despite the plethora of injuries that the US has already sustained (Pedroia, Braun, Lindstrom, Jones) they managed to keep it together long enough to avenge the embarassing loss last week to the same Puerto Rico team by way of the ten run mercy rule. The Americans will play one more game in the second round against Venezula to determine seedings for the semi-finals. For the league’s sake, lets just hope no one else comes up with the injury bug before this thing is over.

UPDATE: Youklis has now pulled out of the remainder of the WBC with a sprained ankle that occurred 3-4 days ago. Why was he even playing? I’m sure that huge pile jumping around wasn’t too good for it. Just saying.

Peppers to the Patriots?

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Dancenham was the first to post that Tom Verducci is reporting that the Pratiots and Panthers are talking about a trade that will send Julius Peppers to the Pats in exchange for the 34th overall pick in the upcoming draft, the same pick that the Patriots received in exchange for Matt Cassell. While this would finally make sense of why the Pats received so much less than everyone though for Cassell, it is simply not going to happen.

First, Peppers was franchised this year and still has not signed his tender. What this means is that the Panthers aren’t even allowed to talk to anyone regarding a trade until they sign him to a long term deal or he at least signs the franchise tender. Sure the Patriots are well known for being shifty and doing things not quite by the books, but John Fox doesn’t have the balls to tango with the Patriots in this regard.

Second, as a franchise player, Peppers is set to make just south of $17 million next year and undoubtedly would need an Albert Haynesworth like contract in order for him to sign. The Patriots would never hand out a contract like that, not even to Tom Brady. Richard Seymour, Logan Mankins, and Vince Wilfork are all free agents at the end of the 2009 season and if Peppers was signed there would be no way that they could resign all three of them. And to be honest with you, I would rather have Seymour and Wilfork. These guys know the system and don’t care that they are not asked to put up sexy sack numbers. Peppers had 14.5 sacks last year but I would bet he gets under 10 in the Patriots system. How do you think he would react to that? He has a history of bitching already and if his sexy numbers decline you can bet he will be a huge problem.

Third, just because Peppers says he wants to be an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense, doesn’t mean he will be good at it. The Patriots system is not easy, you actually have to be intelligent as well as being talented. All Peppers knows is rushing the QB, what is going to happen when he is in space and needs to make decisions on the move? What is going to happen when he needs to cover a TE who is just as quick, or a RB who is even quicker? Or how about when Adrian Peterson comes at you with the shake ‘n bake and makes you look silly, you get blamed for that as a linebacker. I just don’t think he would do as well as he would if he is playing down on the line every play.

Fourth, the guy is a tool. In 2007 he only had 2.5 sacks because he was pissed about his contract and simply shut it down. Does this sound like a guy the Patriots want? Randy Moss and Cory Dillion were both tools as well before they came but they were cheap as hell. It didn’t cost the 34th overall pick and $100 million.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say there is a 0% chance that this deal goes through. I know everyone in New England is still walking around with huge erections thinking about the possibilities but it simply wont happen.

This is what St. Patrick’s Day is all about.

DPED Announced

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Dustin Pedroia was officially announced to the OneSeason world today while I was in the middle of another round of my life long battle with the copier/scanner. Unfortunately, today it got the best of me as I missed out on the DPED IPO and my copies came out terrible. To put me in a better mood and to avoid having three pictures of Pedroia on the front page, I give you his wife Kelli, who couldn’t be happier about today’s IPO.
