OneSeasonPulse.com to Stop Maintaining Site

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

OneSeasonPulse.com has notified folks via Twitter and their website today that they will no longer be maintaining and updating their site. IPO Alerts should continue to work normally, as long as nothing changes on the interface on OneSeason’s end. Here is the info straight from their site…

Shut Down Information

Unfortunately, OneSeason Pulse is shutting down. What does this mean for you? Well, hopefully nothing since the site should (hopefully) still carry on as expected. However, we will not be doing anymore active development or support for it. You should still get the free alerts, SOI price updates, and site alerts but instead of having someone to complain to when they don’t work, you just have to deal with it.

It’s been a great run but we need to refocus our energy and billable hours towards other projects. You can still drop us a line at support @ oneseasonpulse” or info @ oneseasonpulse and we’ll try our best to get back to you quickly.

Thanks and Happy Trading!

David Wright Hits it Hard!

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

David Wright hit the market today, 4/7/09 debuting with only 641 shares. He came out of the box on fire, as most people in the forums predicted. He was selling no problem around $20, and at the time of this writing, he has fallen back down into the $16’s. I thought he would end up in the $8-$9k Market Cap at the close of the market today. He is currently at $10,500. What are your thoughts on the short and long term prospects of David Wright? And who is the fine ass chick smashing cosmos on his arm?

New IPO request feature: “Are You Fan Enough?”

Starting on Wednesday the 25th, there will be a new feature when requesting SOI-IPOs: Users will have to answer a question specifically about the player before they can put in their request.

Example Question:

Question: How many home runs did Ken Griffey Jr. hit in 1997?

Answer: 56

If the question is answered correctly, you will be able to request the shares; if not, you may try again.

are_you_fan_enough

In doing this, another step has been taken by OneSeason to eliminate automated technology from requesting IPOs, and make sure the casual user has more time now to request IPOs. The Forums are ablaze this morning about this topic! Get in there and give your take! OSN FORUMS.

It will be one question, not multiple questions revolving that change if you get the first question wrong. One question.

Mike Sroka, CEO of OneSeason.com will be chatting LIVE with the OneSeason Nation this Wednesday evening at 7pm PST. Bring all your questions, comments, concerns, anything OS or non OS related you’d like to chat about!

*********UPDATE FROM ONESEASON*************

OSN Member Snake emailed Support for more clarity about the recent change, and here we the response! Backs up what the discussion has been in the forums all morning.

From OneSeason

The new feature is a form of “CAPTCHA” or challenge-response test to ensure
that the response is not generated by a computer to help prevent the use of
automated systems/bots/scripts. We want to ensure that folks are on
OneSeason for the right reasons, those being for the fun and entertainment
of sports fans.

Best Regards,

-OneSeason Team

Confirmation from OneSeason CEO Mike Sroka About IPO Formula

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

The Magic Formula

The Magic Formula

Last night, Mike confirmed what we have been telling people for months when the IPOs started rolling out with more regularity. Nothing has changed with the IPO Algorithm. It still triggers based on the same conditions that it always has. We know it’s a combination of several things, but how they weigh we’ll never know. But, there was 100% no denying proof, straight from Mike, that the IPO algorithm has not changed.

Hey! TMAC! What NBA Player is Hated in His Own City?

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

It’s you, you ball bag. What a worthless SOI. Your own city hates you. Nearly the entire OneSeason community hates you. Seriously. Who even requested you be traded? Over Griffey Jr? Over Magic? Over about 100 more people I could name off the top of my head? This guy is always hurt. Always acting like a little bitch. I would love nothing more than for people to remove him from their list, and he never get IPO’d. This won’t happen though. Ladies and Gentleman, I present to you, your first 4k MC IPO-SOI, on the close of the market, first day of trading. Tracy McGrady.

Good News!

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Bob Rafferty of PlayerMonitor.com has posted an update to his site. Here is the latest news about the IPO Alert Texts.

GOOD NEWS!!!

March 1st, 2009

Through testing today, I received my TXT alert as soon as Cole Hamels hit the market.

So the PlayerMonitor.com TXT Alert status is…

- SOI Alerts are working properly

- Alert when player hits market (available for trading) is working properly.

- IPO Alerts just need one more test to verify that they are working properly.

I anticipate that after Tracy McGrady is announced, I will then have the TXT Alerts ALL back online and active.

Thanks again for all of your patience!

Cole Hamels IPO’d (Wife Included)

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Cole Hamels is kind of a Douche. He looks like he would be one of the guys on the TV Show “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” So we decided to put up a picture of his wife instead. He hit the OneSeason at approximately 5:30pm PST, and will open for trading at some point on Sunday. The Bullpup is predicting a 6-7k MC for HMLS. Good Luck! Don’t forget the caption contest ends tomorrow!

BREAKING NEWS OneSeason Releases IPO Alert API Feed!

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

It seems that the newest API Feed, mentioned in the article below, is indeed the long awaited IPO Alert Feed!

From OneSeason: ”

Guys, just an FYI: this does serve as the IPO alert API as well. The player status will go from “Requested” to “Issued” as soon as the IPO is available.

Thanks!”

The way this API Feed works makes IPO detection a SNAP for anyone making 3rd party tools. This is great news!

The Death Of The IPO Lottery And The Re-Birth Of OneSeason

Phoenix Rising From the Ashes

Phoenix Rising From the Ashes

Here is an article on today’s happenings from OSN analyst Joey Mitchell.

Early this afternoon, Donny Douchebag, the IPO Sniper received a collective kick in the groin from the OneSeason powers to be.  How?  Kevin Durant’s max allocation per user was a whopping FOUR IPO shares; or .4% ownership.  OneSeasonNation has been able to confirm from OneSeason directly that it is now “safe to expect for the max allocation of IPOs to be in this lower ballpark” justifying the decision by adding that OneSeason “definitely wants the system and site to appeal to a more broad audience of sports fans including more casual users”.  The steady vibration you feel as you read this is the applause from dedicated and ecstatic OneSeason traders.  Let me grab my soap box and tie the death of the IPO lottery into a couple topics.

Pay Alerts

So long and goodnight.  With confirmation from OS directly that the lower allocation is the rule rather than the exception, a trader can now be confident in his time stamp that is ten minutes after initial announcement rather than sweating out a timestamp two minutes out.  When the information is readily available within minutes among a number of OS dedicated sites, the demand for a pay alert system is obviously going to shrivel up.  And Lord knows we all know what happens to commodities with shrinking demand…

Advanced/Tenured Traders

So what does this announcement mean for the grizzled vets?  It gives them their mojo back…that’s what.  The trader who does his homework, holds strong, buys red and sells green, and so on now has a distinct competitive advantage.  Some goof with a bag of Cheetos and a pay alert can’t instantly triple the bankroll of a decorated day trader by hitting the IPO lottery anymore.  Do your homework and you will be rewarded.  It’s as simple as that.

New Casual Users

Welcome to a level playing field Average Joe OneSeason user.  The death of the IPO lottery means any new member can focus his/her time on learning about the trading engine that IS OneSeason rather than wasting time searching for what pay alert to subscribe to or what page loads the new IPO announcement the quickest.  The new user can also focus the vast majority of his/her financial resources on the market, rather than letting it sit in a pile on the sidelines for BIRD.  That’s good news for everyone involved.

There you have it.  The IPO concept had evolved into a complete perversion of its intended purpose and with this news of diminished allocations we have a re-birth of OneSeason.  Go trade.  Grab some money out of that infamous ‘IPO stack’. Cancel the pay alert subscription and buy your girlfriend a dozen roses as an apology for taking the laptop here there and everywhere.  Do what the site INTENED for us to do and enjoy.

BREAKING NEWS-FROM ONESEASON-NON API IPO ALERTS TOOLS ARE NOT AUTHORIZED

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Attention to everyone who currently uses, plans on using, free versions, pay versions, pays for, or plans on paying for IPO alert tools, or any other tool that does not use OneSeason’s API keys. The OneSeasonNation has just been informed that these tools are not authorized by OneSeason, and may be against the Terms of Service.

From OneSeason

We provide access to certain features and functionality to our site through the API.  Tool created by 3rd parties that do not utilize the API feeds have not been authorized by OneSeason, may not function accurately or as intended and could be shutdown or rendered useless at any time.

The question was then directly asked if these tools violate OneSeason’s Terms of Service. The answer was

It seems such a tool may fall under Section 6 (L.)

Here is section 6 (L) of OneSeason’s Terms and Conditions.

Attempt to access, search or meta-search the Site with any engine, software, tool, agent, device or mechanism other than software and/or search agents provided by E-Global Sports Network or other generally available third party web browsers (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari), including without limitation any software that sends queries to the Site to determine how a website or web page ranks.
What does this mean? This means that although it’s unclear how aggressive OneSeason will be in shutting these IPO Alert tools that do not use OneSeason’s API feeds, but any tool that does not use OneSeason’s API feeds, including IPO alerts that search OneSeason’s pages, are not authorized, and may stop working or be shut down at any time. The only safe, authorized way, looks like to be our old standby. The F5 Tornado.
This will be a very hot topic going forward.
