This past week may go down as one of the most action packed five days in OneSeason since we saw 100% growth every day for a week. It seems like we have seen a new, great announcement each day! Today I will attempt to give you the cliff note version for those who decided to be bitches and not log in at all this week.
Sunday - Boring, but who cares, it was Sunday, you should have been spending time with your family anyways…jerks.
Monday - Magic is announced, and once again it happens right in the middle of east coast rush hour. I don’t know what we did in the east to piss off that monkey, but I smell another civil war brewing if this doesn’t change.
Tuesday - OneSeason unveils their awesome new homepage which blows the old one totally out of the water. If you randomly stumble upon OneSeason now you are now much more likely to stick around and see what’s going on than that sketchy old shadow thing that was there before. Later, Bullpup and The_Brett released the first episode of OSN_TV, yet another totally kick ass feature brought to you by the folks here at the Nation.
Oh, and P.S. the market rose about 30% with volume over 4,000. Were you sitting on a butt load of cash and missed out? I bet you won’t let that happen again.
Wednesday - With the monkey still upset with east coast traders, Utley was announced once again during rush hour. All of the honking you heard on the expressway coming out of Boston was angry traders cussing at the damn monkey. Utley also marked the second straight IPO release that did not result in a mass sell off in the market. It was also announced on Jewcer’s, umm, interesting radio show that Mike Sroka will be participating in a moderated chat on Wednesday March 25 at 7pm PST.
Thursday - Utley was released to the fury of OneSeason traders itching to get their hands on another baseball SOI. For one of the few times that I can remember an IPO was released and continued to go up throughout the day. I sold my shares $8 a couple hours after the release and he made it all the way to the $9 range by the end of the day. Later, SeeTrai from OSPro made an appearance on OST Radio and came in for a LIVE chat with us the OSN Chat Room and announced that they will be launching a website for Fantasy and Market games using SOI’s, something that has the potential the change the entire landscape of OneSeason. Oh, and there was once again volume over 4,000.
Friday - By this point everyone was straight up worn out from the weeks activities. Trading was slow, the message boards and chat room were lacking enthusiasm, and it seemed like people were just taking a breath of fresh air, and good for them. You don’t need to be glued to your computer every single day, and there was no IPO release to reel everyone back in.
This is a week you guys should remember for a long time. I will be the first to admit that there can be some boring and frustrating stretches here as Mike and the boys build out their system. Take advantage of all the great communities out there. Post on the message boards, join us in the chat room, participate in the numerous contests that our great sponsors provide us, and when we do have exciting periods like this past week enjoy it. Have a great day off today and look forward to Pedroia coming tomorrow or Monday.
After much thought I have finally put together what I feel will be a fun contest to run that involves tons of OSN members. The NCAA March Madness Tournament is one of the most anticipated events of the year. I have found a way to bring even more excitement to the table by pairing up the Top 65 OSN members based on their Reputation and with their College equivalent based on rankings. I feel that this is pretty much self explanatory but I’ll toss out an example by showing you the 4 Number 1 seeds based on Joe Lunardis seedings on ESPN
1. North Carolina – Bullpup
1. Pittsburgh – dancenham
1. UCONN – bill2451
1. Lousiville – tomarken
**If you knock off a 1 seed in the tounament you will win yourself an OSN T-Shirt**
*** If your team takes down the whole damn thing you get yourself an offical OSN Jersey***
You still have till “Announcement Sunday” to get your reps up so get to thinkn’, get to postn’ and most importantly.. get to buyn’ BABE!!
If your team knocks off multiple number 1s you will only receive 1 shirt, no doubling up
I will get some sort of graphic or list up Sunday Night
Domination! That’s what OneSeason Trader and OneSeason Nation poker player lbs0219 did tonight to WSOP superstar Jamie Gold. Aced held the Jamie Gold Invitational tonight which was a $30+$3 buyin. There was a $1000 bounty on Jamie’s head and a $250 bounty on Jamies mom’s head. OSN/OST poker players had like 5-6 that joined the tourney with hopes of knocking out Jamie. Both lbs0219 and bengal725 were at his table to start. And believe it or not, the pounder himself, lbs0219 knocked out Jamie to win a cool 1K!!!!!!! lbs0219 had AK while Jamie went all-in preflop with AQ. OOOOPS. Don’t mess with OneSeason poker players buddy. lbs dominated him and took his $1000 in the meantime. Nice work, I guess that means we’ll be seeing lbs a lot more around Aced.com!
So if that wasn’t enough excitement for one night. Another OSN/OST guy, Bengal725, took out JamiesMom for the $250 in cash money. Good lord. OneSeason is clearly Jamie Gold’s daddy! I fully expect Jamie to wear a OneSeason Nation hat accompanied by a OneSeasonTrader.com shirt for this years WSOP. How sweet would that be? Great work guys and see you all at the poker tables in the near future!
Congrats to Philadude, OSN’s official Legal Counsel for winning the 3rd OSN/OST Poker Tourney. Honorable Mention goes to Donkey2Outer and RodneyKnuppel for finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively. We are officially launching weekly tournaments now. They will always be 6pm PST, 9 EST on Wednesdays and Sundays. Click the logo below, or visit OneSeasonPoker.com to sign up and see the schedule.
Mike Sroka is back for a SuperBowl edition of Ask Mike! exclusively at the OneSeason Nation! If you have a question you’d like to ask Mike, please send your questions to bullpup@oneseasonnation.com!
Q: Does participation in an IPO (meaning sheer number of people who requested) impact the maximum percentage a person can get of that IPO? Does it impact the total number of shares that are released? Both? We are wondering if people who think they are on the bubble and cancel their requests are only giving the people at the front of the line a higher % of the shares?
A: The total number of people who requested a particular IPO is not directly contemplated in the allocation process currently. The total number of SOIs that are requested is one of the data points used as an indication of the current demand. We want to ensure that IPOs are allocated to a relatively broad group so the number of SOIs requested by individuals in the time-stamped line-up will influence the max percentage. Canceling requests will only improve the likelihood of someone behind you receiving an allocation.
Q: How come a low sell offer isn’t just automatically matched with the highest buy offer? Why does the system meet the two prices in between?
A: There is no middleman in our system like a market maker or specialist, rather it is a hyperactive matching platform that matches overlapping orders and provides best execution available for both parties. In order to do so, the system queries the outstanding orders and where there is overlap it takes the highest Buy offer and Lowest Sell offer and averages between them. This balances the interest of buyers and sellers executing the order within specifications.
Q: Did you guys go off the normal routine in getting BIGB and FITZ out there before the Superbowl? Or was the exact same IPO process followed that has been in place since day one?
A: It was pretty interesting watching these two players fly up the IPO list. FITZ was exactly the same, BIGB was the same process although implemented a little differently I guess. While the metrics indicated release of new IPO (for BIGB), by the time we were able to get our team ready for it, the market was in decline (Red). Previously we have issued players when the metrics indicated release of new IPO and the market was experiencing an uptick (Green). Given that the metrics looked good to go and so many people wanted him available for the Super Bowl we decided to Issue.
Q: Any plans in the near future to add the Market Clock/Timer to the site?
A: Yes, it has been designed and will likely be implemented in the near future.
Q: Is it true that you guys have no interest other than being the trading platform for all of this and everything else is to be developed by 3rd parties? (Issuing Dividends)
A: We see the core of our company being the trading platform that enables and unifies all kinds of other activity. The biggest advantage of application/open platform models is that you harness lots of creative minds and the market/userbase determines the content that adds value to the experience.
Q: Are new sports going to be added in the near future?
A: We do not expect to add any new sports in the next 3 months as we are focused on building out the features and functionality.
Q: Regarding the new IPO List of the Front page (Nice job btw! We’d been suggesting that forevah!), does that update in real time, or once a day, like during off market hours?
A: Thanks! Good suggestion from you guys…keep em coming. The IPO List updates in real time.
Q: How many total people on staff at OneSeason? How many have been added since launch?
A: Our Team is roughly the size of an NBA Roster and we have added approximately 2 people/month since launch.
The OSN Caption Caption Contest is back with it’s 7th installment! Congratulations to last weeks winner lbs0219! I knew that was Steve Bartman. He didn’t wear headphones, to disguise himself! Here is this weeks photo. This should definitely get some clever captions coming in! Thanks to our sponsor Arttoshirt.net for making this contest possible for the Nation! Have fun!
Ok Nation! It’s poker time. We have finally decided where the first OSTrader/OneSeason Nation Poker Tournament is going to be held. Aced is the poker room of choice. This is going to be awesome. A private tournament for just us OneSeason addicts. The tourney will be held on Sunday, January 25th, at 8 PM CST (9 EST). I know this might be late for you east coasters. But we’ll work with you on the next one and maybe make it earlier. We do plan on making this a weekly/bi-weekly game.
So the game will be a $10+$1 game at Aced. PLEASE sign up for Aced Poker using this link or the links out at OneSeasonPoker.com! If you have OneSeason friends that need to sign up for the tourney - DIRECT THEM TO OneSeasonPoker.com!!! Using these links will ensure you get any bonuses promised to you.
We will also have bounties on Knup and Bullpup’s head. Bullpup (myself) runs things around here at OneSeasonNation.com while Knup runs the chat over at OneSeasonTrader.com - if you knock Knup out of the tourney - you will be sent a OST Tshirt. If you know Bullpup out of the tourney - you will be sent an OSN Tshirt. If you knock Sdogg out of the tournament, He’ll send you his Derrick Rose underpants.
So go NOW and get signed up for Aced. Get money deposited. This room seemed to make the most sense to us because it offered the smallest amount of buy in necessary for us to host a private tournament, as well as a great sign up bonus for you guys if you go through our link. And you’ll find more details about our private tournament in a day or so. Once you get setup - if you’d like to play a little side game - contact us on the Forums and I’d be down to play some evening.
